Christmas

We had sort of an off year for Christmas this year. It was supposed to be a Sturgis family Christmas but since we had just shelled out a lot of dough to go to Japan just a few months ago with almost my whole family, we opted to stay home and keep it simple. However, Brandon's parents, brother, his wife, and their son came out from Buffalo and Brandon's other brother came out from California with his kids who we haven't seen in forever. We did minimal hosting but with all the kids, it was chaotic, but fun.

Brandon's family has a great tradition of doing the nativity on Christmas Eve. Since we had the most recent baby, Brandon and I got to be Joseph and Mary and Lucy was baby Jesus.

Here are some great pictures that Brandon's brother, Damian took (thanks Damian!). I, of course, did not bring my camera but he is much more skilled in taking pictures anyway:

Here we are, starting off the story. We had very minimal costumes as they are mostly kept at Brandon's parents' home in Buffalo. So I improvised with a scarf and my nursing cover.

One of our cute little nieces was the angel while Brandon's mom and the other niece were shepherdess and sheep. Brandon's dad had narration duties.

Here we get a view of "backstage" where Brandon's brothers and nephew are waiting to make their entrance as the Wise Men.

All gathered around baby Jesus/Lucy in the "manger", worshiping her cuteness. Gifts of gold, frankincense and Hugo Boss cologne were presented.

Small audience - Grandma and Grandpa Thompson.

We finished off the production with some cast photos at the end.

For Christmas, we headed over to Damian's house again for exchanging gifts. We captured the first picture of all the grandkids together:

Strike 1! Taylor was more interested in something else than posing for pictures...

Strike 2! Lucy wasn't happy about something and Owen was looking a little frustrated. While Olivia looked like she had just watched the Ring, Morgan looked perfectly content...

Home run! We finally got one! (Thanks Auntie Jamie for Lucy's cute outfit!)

Great pic of all the kids together. Livy told me all about how cute Lucy is and how she says "DaDaDa" when she's happy and "MaMaMa" when she's sad. Fun to see the nativity pics. I'm sure Morgan was in heaven getting to be a sheep...she loves to be animals. Livy will say, "Morgan, you can be the princess." and morgan will say, "NO. I want to be the dog."

Were they Japanese wise men wearing yukata?
That "Ring" picture is freaky.

I said we had minimal costumes - we had to make do with what we had. So yeah - they were Japanese Wise Men.
